Use legumes to make flavorful, quick meals, in less time than you can imagine
You can find them in all different sizes, colors, flavors and even textures, but if there’s one thing they have in common it’s that they’re delicious and easy to prepare. In case you haven’t figured it out, we’re talking about legumes - a food group that’s great for quick meals to serve as a snack or main dish. Here’s how:
Snacks made with legumes
A good example of a quick meal using legumes is the Tomato Chickpea Dip. It’s a fresh snack with a delicious Mediterranean flair highlighted by the flavor of Hellmann's® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise. Serve it with cut-up vegetables and wheat pita bread.
Another snack option is to mix beans and veggies to make a great Creamy Black Bean & Corn Salad. This salad uses a touch of Hellmann's® Mayonnaise Dressing with Olive Oil and the Latin flavor of Knorr® Chicken flavor Bouillon. There’s no doubt that this is a very Latin, budget-friendly and complete snack.
Main dishes made with legumes
Legumes taste great when they’re combined with rice, and that’s definitely the case with this Rice Pilaf with Peas & Pine Nuts made with Country Crock® Spread. Or, another delicious dish made with a similar combination of legumes and rice is Tamarind Rice & Chickpeas. Whichever one you decide to make will result in quick meals that are both equally tasty.
Extra tip: You can also enjoy legumes with vegetables as a filling for wraps. Spread some beans to form a puree and combine that with cheese, veggies and a little Hellmann's® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise. With just a few ingredients, you can whip up some wonderful wraps.
